This is a fantastic recipe. So quick and easy when you don't have eggs and great for when the dairy free son pops in to visit, wish I knew about this recipe when he was growing up.

hi StephJane,
not OP of recipe but literally the 5th item of the recipe list is bicarb Soda is it possible you missed it when you read the recipe?
I hope it works out next next time you make it 🤗😀. (And when I try it in about an hour!)

Didn’t rise at all.
Then I realised there are no rising agents. Has anyone tried adding baking powder or SR flour instead of plain? I haven’t tried it yet but it smells beautiful.

I used this recipe just the other day as I needed dairy and egg free.
I used it as cupcakes and it turned out great. I needed a vanilla recipe so I omitted the cocoa added a little more flour and added vanilla paste. I also omitted the vinegar and slightly increased the oil and water.
Thanks for the recipe

I made this today for my hubby's birthday and we are egg free for religious reasons. So excited to see how it comes out. I left out the vinegar and put 20ml extra water in. I am thinking chocolate icing for the top yum yum!

super easy, and very soft and fluffy, but wasn't keen on the taste... A bit vineger-y and left a vinegar after taste... love that it's egg free and dairy free though, a great option for allergy kids.
I don't usually leave
I don't usually leave comments, but this was so easy, and so good!! I was after an egg free cup cake recipe for tomorrow and another lactose free (but not necessarily egg free) recipe for Thursday... and this recipe is both! I made the recipe in a 12 hole muffin pan, and made 11 really good sized cakes which rose beautifully after 22 minutes in the oven. Will definitely make these again, they were beautifully light and fluffy. Thanks for sharing this recipe with us!
Great recipe ,, made it
Great recipe ,, made it gluten free and replaced the sugar with bananas cant wait to make this for my sons daycare so yum and easy (we also made a runny choc sauce to pour over)

I made this cake today using Rice Bran Oil. It turned out lovely and moist. I am guessing Canola oil would be fine and may try that next time as a cheaper alternative.

Great recipe for the kids
Great recipe for the kids lunch boxes which need to be egg free for school policy. Also made muffins from the mixture and then topped with buttermilk icing. Nice!

Beautiful, soft and fluffy! I
Beautiful, soft and fluffy! I just made two batches which produced almost 30 cupcakes for my sons daycare. I say "almost 30" because I have "tested" a few. It is going to be a massive battle not to eat the rest before I take them in tomorrow. Yum yum!
