Peanut butter spider cookies

Ingredients

Biscuits

  • 110 g Butter
  • 170 g Peanut Butter
  • 60 g brown sugar
  • 80 g white sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 230 g plain flour
  • 1/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt

Decorations

  • 50 g Chocolate (milk or dark)
  • 24 pieces Maltesers, (only a small packet needed)
  • 48 pieces lolly eyes

Recipe's preparation

    Biscuits
  1. 1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C and line 2 baking trays with greaseproof paper. Combine butter and peanut butter in TM bowl and beat 30 seconds speed 5

  2. 2. Add in sugars and beat a further 20 seconds speed 5

  3. 3. Add vanilla & egg and beat another 30 seconds speed 5

  4. 4. FInally add in flour, bicarb soda, baking powder and salt and mix a further 30 seconds speed 5

  5. 5. Roll ~1 tblspn dough into balls and flatten slightly, then cook at 180 degrees for 10 minutes.  If going on to decorate as spiders, remove from oven at 10 minutes and press a small indent into the middle of each biscuit to allow the Malteser to sit comfortably, then return to the oven for another 6-10 minutes until golden brown

  6. 6. Cool on trays for a few minutes then place on wire racks to cool completely

  7. Decorating
  8. Melt chocolate and pipe thin strips over top of biscuits to form the spiders' legs (see picture for huide).  Place a Malteser into the middle of each biscuit, then use chocolate to adhere lolly eyes to the top of the ball
