  • 300 g Dates pitted, pitted
  • 290 g water
  • 1 tsp bicarb soda
  • 60 g Butter
  • 170 g sugar, raw
  • 2 eggs
  • 150 g Self Raising Flour

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    Date Mixture
  1. 1. chop dates 10 seconds/speed 5

    2. add water

    3. Transfer to a small saucepan and bring to the boil

    4. Remove from heat, add soda and stand for 5 minutes

  3. 1. Wash and dry TM bowl

    2. mill sugar 5 seconds/speed 9

    3. Add butter and chop 5 seconds/speed 8

    4. Insert butterfly whilsk and wisk 1 minute/speed 3

    5. Continue mixing 1 minute 30 seconds/speed 4 whil adding eggs

    6. Transfer to a large mixing bowl, gently fold in flour and date mixture

    7. Pour into a 20cm round cake tin and bake at 180 degress C for 65 minutes

    8. Stand for 10 minutes and pour over 1/4 cup sauce.  

    9. Return to oven for 5 minutes, cook uncovered

     

  4. Sauce
  5. 1. Combine all ingredients in saucepan and stir over heat without boiling until sugar dissolves

    2. simmer for 5 minutes
