For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl. -

If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:

Recipe's preparation
- Place steaming basket in mixing bowl and weigh 300g rice and a generous pinch of salt
- Add 1,000g water and a piece of lemon or a dash of vinegar
- Replace lid and measuring cup and cook for 18-22min/Varoma/speed3
- Fluff rice with spatula at 18 minutes to check if cooked through. If not add a few morne minutes.

Tip
For Basmati or Jasmine rice, reduce the cooking time by a few minutes.
Brown rice is a different recipe
Use the spatula to agitate the rice throughout the cooking.
Maybe consider adding fish or chicken to the Varoma dish or tray to cook while rice is cooking
