French Toast with Berry Compote

Ingredients

4 slice(s)

French Toast

  • 4 slices Thick Cut White Bread (I used Lawson's Traditional White Bread)
  • 4 eggs
  • 80mL light cream, 1/3 Cup
  • 80mL Milk, 1/3 Cup
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence / extract
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar, Can use Ground Cinnamon
  • 25 grams Butter, For Frying

To Serve

  • 1 Punnet of Fresh Berries
  • 1 Cup of Yoghurt
  • 1 Cup of Berry Compote, You can make this but I purchased it

Recipe's preparation

    French Toast
  1. Mix Milk, Eggs, Cream, Vanilla Essence and Vanilla Sugar (or Ground Cinnamon) into bowl.


    Insert Butterfly and mix on speed 4 for 10 seconds


    Pour mixture into a large / medium size container (large enough to fit slice of bread)


    Heat pan on high, once hot enough drop down to medium and melt butter


    Soak bread into mixture and flip over


    Cook for 1:40 - 1:50 minutes (depending on temperature) each side and then set aside


    Repeat for other 3 slices

  3. Serve with berry compote, fresh berries and yoghurt (could use maple syrup but already sweet enough).


    I used a cookie cutter to place a heart in the centre and filled inside with berry compote and berries.

Tip

You can make berry compote using frozen berries and caster sugar but I purchased it
