      Recipe is created for
      TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    Wash the apples and orange.
  1. Place apples pieces into bow. Chop 4 sec/speed 4.

  2. Add the orange and enough water to just cover the fruit. Do not overfill the bowl.

  3. Add the remaining ingredients (except the sugar)

  4. Cook 120mins/98 degrees/speed 2 Counter-clockwise operation

  5. Use the basket upside down instead of the MC to stop splattering but let the steam escape

  6. Remove orange and cinnamon sticks and cloves.

  7. You can remove the leftover apple or blend until smooth 1min/speed 9 (gradually).

  8. Serve warm to hot.

I had a lot of issues with this recipe. I have a TM5, but I found that 8 apples sliced into quarters was a tough fit. I ended up having to hold down the lid as it locked into place in order to get it locked. I also found that 4 seconds on speed 4 just wasn't doing it with all those apples. Did it for more like a minute. 120 minutes also seems a bit odd, since the timer for the thermomix only goes to 99 minutes, so I'll have to get up in 21 minutes to add more time. It's all good if this ends up making great cider, but I do wish there were disclaimers, such as "you may need to add the apples a little at a time" and "the thermomix timer only goes to 99 minutes so you will have to add more time partway through"
