For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl. -

If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation
- Cut the onions in half, and add to the bowl. Add measuring cup and lid and then cut for 5 sec/Speed 5.
- Scrape down the sides and then add sugar, salt and butter to the bowl.
- Saute at 40 minutes/110°C/"Counter-clockwise operation" Speed 1 ... DO NOT put the measuring cup in.
- You are sauteing until caramalised, so extend the time accordingly. The end result should be soft, caramlised onions.
- Once done, put finished caramalised onions on a plate and let cool while you prep the next steps.
- Rinse and dry bowl.
- Add the 2 gherkins to the bowl and chop for 5 sec / speed 4
- Scrape down the sides and add in the mayonnaise, ketchup, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper and the sautéed onions you prepared from earlier.
- Mix together 10 seconds / speed 4"Counter-clockwise operation"
- Transfer your burger sauce to a bowl or jar and refrigerate until needed, or use immediately.

"Dough mode" If you're in Australia / New Zealand, you can use tomato sauce instead of ketchup
