Beef Samosas and Green Chilli Chutney

Ingredients

18 portion(s)

  • 30 grams olive oil
  • 1 Small brown onion, peeled and quartered
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1 level teaspoon ground cummin
  • 1/2 level teaspoon of ground corriander
  • 200 grams of beef mince
  • 1 dessert spoon of veg/meat stock
  • 1/2 level teaspoon of garam masala
  • 1/2 cup of frozen peas
  • 4 sheets sheets of puff pastry
  • 2 fresh green chillies,seeded and chopped
  • 1/3 cup of fresh mint
  • 1/3 cup of fresh corriander
  • 1/2 cup of greek style yogurt
  • 1 level tablespoon of lemon juice

Recipe's preparation

  1. Add garlic and onion to bowl chop 4 seconds, speed 5

    Add oil cook 4 minutes, 100 deg, speed 1

    Add cummin, corriander cook 30 seconds, 100 deg, speed 1

    Add beef mince, cook  5 minutes, 100 deg, speed 1

    Add garam masala, stock, cook 5 minutes, 100 deg, speed 1 MC off

    Add peas, cook 4 mins, 100deg, speed 1 MC off, let mixture cool before assembly

     

    Cut the Puff pastry sheets in to 4, and put a tablespoon of  the mixture in the squares then fold over to form a triangle and press the edges together with fork tongs to seal --- bake in the oven 200deg for 15-20mins till golden brown.

    I used a Breville multi snack maker, a bit fiddley but the presentation was worth it

    Chutney

    Put chilli, fresh mint and corriander in bowl, chop 5 seconds, speed 5, scrape down sides and add yogurt and lemon juice, blend 20 seconds, speed 3  and serve

Tip

The chutney is warm on the palate but not hot

    Great recipe! I did the pastry the traditional way (form a cone, fill it, fold so they sit up) - absolutely beautiful! Enough to have for lunch too as there are only 2 of us at the moment - reheated beautifully.  Thank you!

    These are lovely - my whole family devoured them for tea and leftovers for lunch the next day !!!  We were not a fan of the chutney though (I couldn't get fresh mint so only used the coriander so could be simply me not following the recipe !!!) and used sweet chilli sauce instead.
