Homemade Baked Beans
- 2 portions onions, Halved
- 2 portions garlic clove
- 30 g olive oil
- 3 portions Bacon rasher, Roughly chopped
- 1 1/2 level tsp sambal oelek, Or chilli paste to taste
- 1 1/2 level tbsp brown sugar
- 3 level tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 level tbsp tomato paste
- 1 level tbsp wholegrain mustard
- 2 small leaves bay leaves, Upto 4
- 2 cans tomatoes, 400g each tin diced
- 2 cans cannellini bean, canned, 400g each tin drained and rinsed

- Place onions and garlic into mixing bowl.
Chop 5 sec/speed 5.
Scrape down sides. - Add olive oil.
Sauté 5 min/120°C/speed 1 - Add bacon and sambal oelek.
Cook 5 min/120°C/Reverse/speed Soft - Add brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste and wholegrain mustard.
Cook 2 min/120°C/Reverse/speed Soft. - Add bay leaves, diced tomatoes, salt and pepper.
Cook 15 min/100°C/Reverse/speed Soft, MC removed and simmering basket placed on lid to reduce splatter. - Add cannellini beans.
Cook 15–20 min/100°C/Reverse/speed Soft, until thickened to your liking. - Remove bay leaves, taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

Serve with:
* Poached or fried eggs
* Crispy bacon
* Chorizo sausages
* Toasted sourdough or ciabatta
Tips
* Substitute cannellini beans with a 3-bean mix.
* For a smokier flavour, add 1 tsp smoked paprika with the bacon.
* If you prefer thicker baked beans, cook an extra 5–10 minutes with the simmering basket on top.

For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
