      Recipe is created for
      TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    Sausage Roll Filling
  1. Preheat oven at 200°C

Line baking tray with baking paper and set aside

Add onion (cut in half) and carrot pieces to TM bowl and chop 3-5 secs/Speed 5

Saute onion and carrot with oil 3 min/Varoma/Speed 1

Mix in dried italian herbs or dried oregano, garlic powder with onion & carrot mixture.

    Mix 20 secs/Speed5

    Set aside to cool.

Add breadcrumbs, mince (Beef & Pork), tomato paste, soy sauce and 1 egg to TM Bowl.

    Mix 20 secs/Speed 5

    Fold in onion/carrot/herb mixture. Mix20 secs/Speed 5

Roll out to 3cm wide cylinders, then coat these with breadcrumbs

Beat the remaining eggs and brush onto the puff pastry

Cut puff pastry in half (horizontally)

Place the mince log at one end and roll up, until the pastry just overlaps. Trim off the excess, and place the rolls seam-side down on lined oven trays

Repeat with the remaining pastry and mince

Brush the roll with remaining egg, and cut into 5 piece marks

Bake for 20 minutes, until the pastry is golden and crisp

Cool slightly on wire racks before serving.

Tip

You can also brush pastry with milk instead of egg.

Will make 6 long rolls. Great for freezing if not cooking all rolls.

  • So yummy!...

    So yummy!
The filling was delicious, not too wet or too dry. I made the quick puff pastry from the BCB, although it needed 2 quantities to cover the filling. The kids are usually picky with homemade sausage rolls, but they gobbled these up.

So tasty! Only used 500g beef as that’s what I had but added an extra carrot and blitzed the onion and carrot a second time as I wanted hidden veggies. The result is so good I’m trying to leave them alone so there are some for snacks and lunches 😋

These are great, big thumbs up from the kids. I will add a tablespoon vegetable stock paste next time, mine needs salt (I only had salt reduced Tamari though, not proper soy sauce)

I wish I followed your instructions. I didn't coat the mince log in breadcrumbs before wrapping in pastry and I believe that's why the pastry was soggy on the base.

I will try again the correct way.

Made these twice, added a teaspoon of salt the second time and I think it made them tastier. Regardless they were a hit both times. Also sprinkled with black and white sesame seeds. Will definitely be our go to sausage rolls. Thanks tmrc_emoticons.)

Big Smile that makes me so happy to see a comment like yours! Thank you. The Pork Mince is only to give it a better consistancy to hold the mince together. The other day, I made a veal & pork one, just as good!

Thanks for the recipe ♡. I only had 500g beef mince so omitted the pork mince and they still turned out lovely. Big tick of approval from the toughest critics - 3 year old daughter and 2 year old son!
