Recipe's preparation

    Gran’s Ginger Slice - Base
  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
Line a large slice pan with baking paper (approx. 25cm x 30cm).
Place all base ingredients into the Closed lid"Closed lid" and blend together 1 minute/Speed 4.5.
Press mixture into the slice pan and bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Prepare icing while base is cooking.
  2. Gran’s Ginger Slice - Icing
  3. Place all icing ingredients into Closed lid"Closed lid" and cook together 6 minutes/110 degrees Celsius/Speed 3.
Spread over warm base and allow to cool in tin.
When cooled slice into 16 or more pieces.

Tip

The larger the slice pan, the thinner the base will be. If the base is thin it will be faster to cook and be crispy. If you prefer a thicker base, use a smaller tin.

For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
