I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find any anwers having a quick read of the comments. How long would this cake last in the fridge? I'm thinking of making it for school lunches so would it last the 5 days in the fridge? Or would it freeze okay? I don't know if anyone can answer as it seems the cake gets in eaten in a matter of minutes!! lol

Have made this cake twice now and it’s a winner for sure. A perfect go to for any occasion. So quick and easy but so delicious. Have done in a bundt tin and springform. My son liked the springform best because he said it was denser but they were both delicious. First time I only had brown sugar, not dark brown and wa still delicious. Cut the 2nd one to 200g of dark brown sugar and still fine. This cake stays moist for days, if it lasts that long.

This is delish. My sister made it for my nephews second birthday and everyone loved it. I made a vegan version with egg replacer, dairy free white choc and nuttlex and it was great. I also reduced the sugar to 150g and it was perfect. Yum yum. Thank you.

Have this cake in oven now and was wondering if anyone has used a dark chocolate ganache instead of white. I find white chocolate too sweet but I am not sure if the dark ganache would overwhelm the cake. Thank you

Delicious cake!! I did make the mistake of doubling the recipe today which was a fail! There’s too much in the bowl when the recipe is doubled and I had to mix on a higher speed which then over mixed it! Turns out perfectly when only doing one batch at a time!!

So disappointed. Read the reviews and decided on a bundt tin to avoid sinking in the middle. Greased really well with butter only to find it stuck and part of the cake stayed in the tin.

tastes great but needs to look good as well. Will try one more time in a springform tin.

Delicious, I cut the sugar down and also reduced temp to 155 degrees as I have a fan forced oven so turned skewer came out clean after 40 mins. I haven’t iced it yet, but tastes great on its own. Thanks for the recipe I will definitely make this again!

Yep! My husband raved about this cake too. He has a few favourites from the community but your recipe went straight to the top of the list. I only used 200gms of sugar and cooked it at 155 fan forced for 45mins. I also used a good quality cake tin, no dome, perfectly flat and no problems sinking. I was a little concerned about how thin the icing was, but the drip over the edge of the cake made it look special and you really want the cake to shine in this recipe, not the icing. Thanks for sharing a beautiful recipe.Love

I made it for Cake Decorator's Association AGM yesterday. Bah, was it a hit! I've never heard so many rave reviews about a cake! Every single professional baker who tried it, absolutely loved it. Beautiful flavour & moist texture. Baked in 2 x 9" tins wrapped with damp towel. Perfectly leveled 2 tiers. Sliced each in half. Had left over German / Russian Buttercream ( slitely salted), smeared very thinly over each layer and sides. Perfection! Thank you!

    Hello deliciousness!!!

I made this cake for my birthday buddy at school and had so many requests for the recipe!!! I halved the sugar I put in.

I used buttercream icing as my ganache was a bit of a flop.
Made 2 small cakes for layering and 6 muffin size ones for lunch boxes.

Can't wait for the next occasion to crack this one out again!
