Recipe's preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 180C.  Line baking trays with baking paper.

    2.  Chop any “whatever” ingredients if you need too, set aside. (You can press your Turbo button a few times to do a quick chop)

    3.  Place sugar into TM bowl and mill for 6 seconds on speed 9.  Add butter and if hard soften for 30 seconds at 60C on speed 3, then cream butter and sugar for 20 seconds on speed 4 (you may need to stop and scrape down sides of bowl and resume).

    4.  Add egg and mix for 10 seconds on speed 4.

    5.  Add flour and mix for 20 seconds on speed 5.

    6.  Add whatever (eg: 170g choc chips) and mix for 10 seconds on Reverse + speed 4.

    7.  Roll mixture into balls the size of a walnut and place onto the prepared trays with room to spread and bake for 10-12 minutes.

Tip

These biscuits are so easy, you just place them on the trays and they spread.  Your whatever ingredients will all weigh different.

A cup of choc chips weigh 170g.  If you are using nuts or apricots, chop these before you mill the sugar and set aside.

These are sooo good - quick and easy to make and pretty tasty. I made some today when I suddenly had a spare 1/2 hour using desiccated coconut and they turned out easy to roll and spread out on the tray during baking. They won't last long!

Super easy. I added one third of a cup of earl grey tea. Will definitely make them again, probably with spelt so that I can eat them. I use a smaller size ice cream scoop (carefully avoiding the blades of the Thermomix) rather than trying to roll the dough. I think it would be fine to double the recipe and will probably do this next time.

Whatever biscuits - Very yummy and versatile... I reduced sugar to 90g. Also dough is very wet and sticky so instead of rolling into balls, I scooped out with a teaspoon and pressed down with a fork. They turned out lovely.. I personally wouldn't add more flour or you would get a very crumbly biscuit. I added a cup of walnuts and dates, next I will try dried apricots and white choc bits. Definitely a keeper. It didn't really take long to make and bake. Highly recommended.

    Submitted by Megsy13 on 22. August 2016 - 10:26.

    Very easy to make.

My 11 year old made these without help, and pushed a large chocolate melt into the centre of each blob of dough. They turned out really well, although as others have mentioned, it is an extremely sticky dough, and impossible to form into balls!

A good, versatile recipe that we will be making again

    Submitted by shoeberry on 18. June 2016 - 22:42.

A new family favorite. The first batch I added extra flour so I could roll them, but since then I have made a few batches as per the recipe, and they have been a better texture to eat - just don't try to roll them, drop dollops on the tray instead. Favorite combo so far has been craisins with white choc bits.

  • Whatever biscuits - I have

    Submitted by Leaps on 15. May 2016 - 18:56.

Whatever biscuits - I have just made these for a second time and realised that I neglected including in my previous comment that I added an extra 50g flour as per some of the other comments. This time I made the biscuits as per the recipe with 160g SR flour, yes the dough was sticky, but the consistency of the biscuits was far better using the prescribed quantity of flour, much like the consistency of shortbread. So if you find the dough too sticky, persist as it will be worth it. Although, I will try dropping tablespoons of batter onto the baking trays next time rather than rolling into balls.

  • I'm not sure whats gone

Submitted by Melinda Hutchison on 25. February 2016 - 21:29.

I'm not sure whats gone wrong, the only thing that comes to mind is if your butter wasnt weighed correctly because something could have been leaning on side of the TM interupting the scales.

    Submitted by Leaps on 16. September 2015 - 13:06.

Whatever biscuits - So good! I love the 'whatever' concept! We used dark choc chips and macadamias. As per a couple of the other comments, I reduced both the sugar and butter to 100g (although I don't think the 10g would make that much difference). The biscuits were not too sweet which is just the way we like them. The dough was sticky but definitely not unmanageable. Five stars! Thanks for sharing! My 8 yo is already thinking about other 'whatever' variations!
