For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl. -

Tip
The shortcrust pastry recipe is from Cookidoo. I just added sugar to make it sweet.
I used 7 apples, however they were quite small.
Keep in mind that your apples have to be thin enough to cook. Although, they are still supposed to have some crunch when cooked. I have used the slicer side on the grater before, and that has worked well. Just very time consuming! Alternatively you can just slice them thinly. I used the apple peeler and then sliced into small bits. The method you choose will depend on the level of crunch you're after.
I place my pie tin on a pizza tray so it is easier to handle when moving in and out of the oven.

BecStar2019: The apples do need to be sliced very thinly, but I designed the recipe so they were not overcooked and didnt turn to mush. Also sounds like your pie dish threw out the ratios. Its a shame you didnt enjoy it as we love it in our household. The world would be boring if we were all the same 😊
My kids gave it the big thumbs up. Delicious.

The pie pastry was not enough for an average size pie dish. The apple filling was undercooked in 25 mins. Definitely need a much longer cook. Ironically too much crumble mixture. Thumbs down.
