This is a great recipe - I used almond milk, tapioca flour and rice syrup instead of sugar. It turned out really well! I had to make up a second batch as I was using it for a trifle. Many thanks!

This was the first time making custard from scratch. Very easy to make and tasted delicious. Like others I suggest cooking for an extra 2 minutes and doubling the ingredients

  • I made this today:...

    Submitted by Maisie23 on 7. January 2020 - 21:12.

    I made this today:
    10g (1 tbsp) cornflour
    40g sugar
Super tasty. My son said he liked it better than the Coles one I had in the fridge. Big Smile

I put it on for five minutes from the time it reached 90°, it took about five minutes to get there. So next time I'll probably just put on for 10 mins at the start.

Definitely going to double up next time and probably reduce sugar to 30g and see how that is.

    thank you for your recipe.

Beautiful custard! I used half the sugar and only 1 tablespoon of cornflour and it thickened after standing for 10 minutes. I don't like my custard too thick but this was perfect!

    Submitted by moomin on 19. February 2017 - 13:16.

Thank you for posting. This recipe is so easy and following the directions it turned out perfectly. The only thing I would change is the sweetness. I reduced to about 40g and next time would reduce even further. Admittedly I'm not a sweet tooth but I think it's a healthier treat for the kids with less sugar too.

Yummy, but very sweet,  next time I'll cut half the sugar, less corn flour as  it's super thick.   over all nice

Submitted by Petrina Pearce on 14. July 2014 - 06:55.

After 5 minutes it was still runny, so I gave it another 5 minutes which was probably too long as it was quite thick. We all enjoyed it and will make again.

Big fan of this recipe, I would use a little less suger for my taste and found I needed an extra minute to get to the 90 degree. But yum.
