Recipe's preparation

    Apple
  1. Preheat oven to 160C
Place apples in Thermomix, sprinkle with cinnamon and add water.  Cook for 10 minutes, 90C Reverse + Speed 2.  Add another 2 minutes if they need to soften more.

  2. Once the apples are cooked you have 2 options.  You can drain some excess liquid, or leave it in.  Then chop apples to desired consistency - don't process at all for chunkier texture, or blend for 10 seconds or Speed 5 to puree more.  But it depends on how cooked they are, thickness of slices etc, and if you like more pureed then bump up the speed and add some extra time - watch through lid until you are happy.  Add to oven proof dish (this just makes about 6 servings)

  3. Crumble
  4. Chop almonds for 2 short seconds Speed 5

  5. Add walnuts.   Chop another 2 seconds Speed 5.  Check consistency and chop a second or 2 longer if a finer crumble is desired.

  6. Add coconut, oats and drizzle honey evenly around the top of ingredients.  Combine for about 20 Seconds, Reverse + Speed 3.

  7. Add crumble to top of apples

  8. Cook in oven for about 15 - 20 minutes until gently browning.
Serve with Vanilla Custard from Everyday Cookbook or homemade Icecream! Yummy!

It is healthy as a breakfast or snack as well (I even eat it with some milk for breakfast, but that may be weird for some!!)

I made this to serve in individual serves. It only filled three ramikins.

I would advise anyone making this to at least double the recipie maybe even triple depending on how many people you are serving.

I really like the flavours and texture of this recipie and would defiently make again.

So tasty for such a healthy crumble top. Yummo! I doubled crumble top ingredients & the apple in order to make a larger sweet. Served with thickened cream, though custard or icecream would also go well with it. Definitely will make again soon.

  • Healthy apple crumble : a
    Submitted by ronellem on 29. July 2016 - 17:45.

Healthy apple crumble : a good basis to start with, Five stars for the crumble (. I had to make a few changes to the apple mix, though.

*The amount if apples and crumble just was not enough for 5 adults, so I doubled everything.

*The apples needed to be sliced finer and was too bland.

*Do not cook apples in spiced water. Instead I preferred a generous sprinkling if cinnamon and a pinch of ground cloves over the apple mix.

I used half honey and half rice malt syrup.

    TIP:

Chop the almonds for 2 more seconds before adding the walnuts.

Instead of adding spices to water in bowl, sprinkle over cooked apples for more flavour.

certainly a healthier version. i find this recipe is not as sweet with the sugar "as is". The crumble can be used as a nut muesli too. Overall, a pleasant dish

Amazing!! I love this, still perfectly sweet & homely. Leftovers (if any) are served cold with a dollop of natural yoghurt. Always a winner in our household. Have substituted pear when short on apples & it works well.

    Submitted by sallylovesicecream on 18. July 2015 - 22:16.

I thought this crumble was great,  but I did make a few alterations. I used 2 granny Smith apples plus 2 pink ladies.  For the crumble I increased the quantity of oats to 100 grams because it just didn't seem like enough mixture.  I also added about 50 grams of butter.  This worked out terrifically. Thanks for the recipe.

Just made this with almonds, pistachio and macadamia so because I didn't have the other nuts. I loved the crumble taste but think I will try with coconut blossom sugar instaed of honey as I  prefer a bit sweeter. fresh, healthy and an easy way to use up too many apples.

    Thank you.
