Recipe's preparation

    Popcorn
  1. make the popcorn first, 1/4 cup of upopped kernels. (I have a popcorn machine, but if you don't have one, just use a microwave popcorn pack. - one without any flavourings added)

  2. Add sugar to mixing bowl and blitz speed 9/ 30 seconds.

Add butter and honey into the Thermomix Bowl, put it on to 70 degrees/Speed 2/4 minutes with Measuring Cup on.

Caramelise on Varoma/Speed 2/9 minutes without the Measuring Cup.

Add popcorn to bowl and stir Speed 1/Reverse/2-3 mins making sure to omit any unpopped kernels. Stir until completely combined.

Once combined, pour out into an oiled tray (can also use oilled cupcake pan, for easy portion sizes) and refrigerate.

I love this recipe!!!  So easy and I didn't have to stir the caramel the whole time - I cooked up 1/2 C of popcorn and there was still plenty of caramel to coat the popcorn!!!  I added a handful of unsalted peanuts and yummo!!! Thanks for a great recipe!!!

  • I use Agave syrup

    Submitted by BazzNRee on 16. July 2016 - 11:26.

tmrc_emoticons.-) I use Agave syrup occasionally, just to mix it up a bit, and my hubby hasn't noticed a difference yet. I also add cashews and pretzels to the mix every now and then, just for a change. I love to see the recipe being developed different ways, I thinks that's what good cooking is all about.

  • Thank you, it does the same

    Submitted by BazzNRee on 16. July 2016 - 10:47.

Thank you, it does the same for me when I make it. My mother made it for us as kids, and her mother made it for her and her siblings. Not sure where it came from before that, but love it just the same. Enjoy tmrc_emoticons.-)

Yummy. We compacted the popcorn down then drizzled with chocolate and served in chunks. I always blitz my sugar first so it dissolves easier. Great school holiday treat think my kids will make a bit over the next few weeks. Thank you

  • Hi, glad you like the

    Submitted by BazzNRee on 26. June 2015 - 21:10.

Hi, glad you like the flavour, I get the same results too now, the original recipe was as follows,

    1. Combine Butter, Sugar (I use raw or white) and honey (can be substituted with golden syrup) into the Thermomix Bowl on 70 degrees Speed 3 for 2 minutes with Measuring Cup on.2. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and caramelise on Varoma Setting Speed 3 for 6 minutes without the Measuring Cup.3. beat on speed 4 no heat and no measuring cup, till the temp comes down to 70degC.4. Slow it down to speed 2, gradually add all the pre-popped popcorn in through the measuring cup hole, beat for 2 mins, then pour out into greased trays and refrigerate to cool. But, when I posted it the forum took it down, and told me I had to change it as thermomix said the veroma setting couldn't be operated over speed 2.  Hope this helps.

  • Quite nice but the sugar

    Submitted by Hattie on 25. May 2015 - 10:30.

Quite nice but the sugar didn't fully dissolve leaving it slightly grainy. Didn't stop me from eating it though!
