Poached Pears

  • 0.75 litre water
  • 100-200 gram brown sugar, depending on sweetness preference
  • 1 piece cinamon sticks
  • 3 piece pears, cored - not peeled, large, just ripe, cut in quarters

Recipe's preparation

    Poached pears
  1. Place water, sugar and cinnamon quill into mixing bown and cook 5mins/100 degrees /speed 2, or until sugar is dissolved.

  2. Add pears and cook 10 - 15mins/ 100 degrees/ counter-clockwise operation/speed 1, or until pears are tender.

  3. Take pears out with a slotted spoon and cook syrup 5 - 10mins/ Varoma/speed 1, to reduce. 


    Pour syrup over pears. Serve with icecream, cream, custard or eat on own.

Tip

* For a thicker syrup use less water.

* Use syrup as base for making drinks. 

* Add ginger, cloves or other spices to vary recipe.

    Very easy and delicious. I used 100g of organic coconut palm sugar instead of brown sugar and topped with custard. I imagine it would be great with vanilla bean icecream and would do it again and add some other spices to change it up.
