Tip

You could use a mixture of 450g white fish and 250g of smoked cod fillet

If you don’t mind a more rustic look then don’t worry about peeling your potatoes, just give them a scrub.  I never peel them and my kids have never once said anything, and there is lots of goodness in those skins

I added garlic and extra seasoning to the sauce and glad I did otherwise it could have been very bland. Nice dish and would definitely make again, but I’d add more seafood or some chicken. Thanks for posting!

I would like to try this fish pie recipe. This recipe calls for 50 gm of flour. What type of flour do I use...plain flour, cornflour?
Also 200 gm of pure cream. Is it cooking cream?

Luckily added some smoked cod because we would've found this dish rather bland. If I make again I will add some stock paste to the white sauce.
Also, can someone confirm what temp and speed to cook the potato???

    Submitted by Predo on 10. July 2016 - 18:32.

This was awesome! Took some time but its worth it. I added mustard to the sauce which complimented it well. Had no leek but cooked some onion instead of leek and it worked too. I could suggest some corn in it as well..

cooked veggies on the side and it was a great hearty meal. Will make again...

I made this tonight with fresh scallops & red finned salmon. I also added diced carrot steamed in tmx, frozen peas/corn to base of dish with seafood. With the potato top I added a head of steam broccoli to the mash.  Was very tasty, enjoyed by all kids, well excelt a tired & cranky 5 yr old who had eaten all, afternoon!

  • This is the most delicious

    Submitted by karen21 on 8. September 2013 - 21:08.

This is the most delicious fish pie I have ever eaten. I used a little less cream and milk and it turned out perfect. My extremely fussy youngest child who usually hates everything I cook, said it was delicious (he usually complains about prawns, egg and potato). This will become a staple in our household- next time I might even try it with chicken. YUM YUM!!!
