Delicious!!! Cooked it for an extra 20mins but could’ve gone another 10 or buy nicer meat, my meat was a bit tough. The sauce leftover was soooo good, have frozen it to use for gravy with a roast beef. Nice and easy recipe to follow.

    Submitted by matjay on 15. July 2015 - 21:57.

I cooked this tonight and have added it to my favorites. It was very flavorsome and a lovely winter nights dinner. I also cooked it for 30 minutes longer and the meat was lovely and tender. Also added a few extra veges - celery and carrot. Very hearty.

  • Hi, MC is your measuring cup

    Submitted by kyliesmiley on 5. June 2015 - 06:50.

Hi, MC is your measuring cup that sits on top of the Termie lid.  Take the MC off and place your steaming basket on top of the lid instead.  Nothing goes into the basket, it is used in this recepie as a tool to allow air into the bowl and steam out so the sauce can thicken but minimise splashes. (I just made up the minimise splashes bit so not offended if someone can add a more technical reason lol).

Hi, I am really new to the Thermomix and still trying to get my head around the 'Thermy speak'!

What does "MC off and replace with steaming basket" mean?  What goes into the steaming basket?

Sorry for the dumb questions, but I would love to make your recipe.

    Thank you.

  • Just made this and have it

    Submitted by amygeorge on 22. April 2015 - 17:56.

Just made this and have it sitting in the thermoserver ready for dinner. I used round steak and thought it was still a little tough after the 20 mins. I extended the time by another 35 mins and it came out beautifully tender with a nice thick sauce! Will def be making this again!!

  • Being gluten free I left out

    Submitted by Lael on 9. July 2014 - 21:20.

Being gluten free I left out flour and added 1 grated purple carrot as substitute. At specified cooking completion I sampled the beef and felt it was still too tough for my taste so continued to cook another 45 minutes. The result was a thick, rich but very concentrated casserole with a deep satisfying flavour that begged for a balance of neutral rice or other accompanyment. In the end I served this poured over bowls of lightly steamed vegetables which tasted perfectly synergistic.
