Karaage Chicken

Karaage Chicken

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 15 grams ginger, stem
  • 30 grams rice wine vinegar
  • 45 grams soy sauce
  • 2 level teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1000 grams skinless chicken thighs, cut into 5cm pieces
  • 200 grams potato starch

Recipe's preparation

  1. Place a bowl onto lid of thermomix and weigh in chicken thighs. Set aside

    Place garlic and ginger into Closed lid and grate 3second / speeed 7. Scrape down sides of bowl and repeat.

    Weigh rice wine vinegar, soy sauce and brown sugar into bowl. Mix 3 seconds / speed 4.

    Pour contents of bowl into bowl with chicken thighs. Set aside and allow to marinate for at least 30 minutes

    In a seperate clean bowl weigh in potato starch or enough to coat chicken.

    After chicken has finished marinating, dip pieces of chicken into potato starch. Place batches of chicken into airfyer, spray with olive oil spray and cook at 190degrees for 5 minutes, turn chicken give another spray with olive oil and cook for a further 5 minutes or until golden in colour.

    Serve with cooked rice, pickled or fresh cucmber and Japanese Mayo.
    Also nice cut up and put into sushi rolls.


you could also fry in oil or deep fry if desired.
