If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    Falafels
  1. Mill red lentils 1 min/speed 9. To get a finer consistency, place lentils into mixing bowl and then add in the simmering basket. This will keep the lentils down closer to the blades whilst milling.

  2. Add garlic and parsley and chop 10 seconds/speed 7.

  3. Add all other ingredients EXCEPT sesame and chop/combine 10 secs/speed 5. Depending on your choice of flour, you may have to add a little more flour to get a wet paste consistency that can be formed into balls.

  4. Form into balls and coat with sesame seeds.

  5. Cook in 180C oven for 20 mins or until golden

    - OR -

Cook in a fry pan until golden.

  6. Dressing
  7. Place all ingredients into miing bowl and process until smooth, approx 20 secs/speed 7

These were super easy and tasty. I used plain flour and my handful of fresh parsley was more like 30g. I didn't use the basket when milling.

  • Great recipe if you haven't

Great recipe if you haven't overnight soaked some chickpeas! A winner for flavour and texture when oven baked thank you. I'll make again for sure, although I won't put the basket in when milling, that just made a mess, and I wasn't too keen on the tahini dip but the felafels were great.
