Creamy Bacon Carbonara

  • 5 fillets Bacon slices, Diced
  • 1 --- brown onion, Halved
  • 2 cloves garlic clove
  • 250 g Penne Pasta
  • 490 g Boiling water
  • 2 level teaspoons Vegetable stock paste
  • 1 level tbsp pepper, ground
  • 1 cup --- Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 225 g thickened cream

      Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Recipe's preparation

  1. Add onion halves and garlic cloves to TM bowl, chop 5 seconds speed 7, add bacon and butter. Sauté 5 mins, varoma temp Counter-clockwise operation speed 1, MC off.

    Add butterfly attachment, add stock paste, thickened cream, pepper, penne pasta and boiling water. Cook 15 mins, 105 degrees Counter-clockwise operationGentle stir setting, using steamer basket instead of MC.

    Add 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese, cook 1 min, 105 degrees Counter-clockwise operationGentle stir setting.

    Combine egg yolk in a small bowl and add remaining 1/4 Parmesan cheese and whisk with a fork. Then using a wooden spoon, gently stir into the pasta and serve. (This will help thicken the sauce and the residual heat from the pasta will cook the egg)
