      TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    Ingredient prep
  1. Weigh the pasta into the simmering basket and rinse with cold water to pre wet all the pasta. Set aside.
  2. Put the cheese and cornflour into the TM bowl and grate 6 seconds speed 8 mc on. Transfer to a small bowl and set aside. Do not clean bowl.
  3. Put the zucchini in the TM bowl and finely chop 2 seconds speed 5 mc on. Put the chopped zucchini on top of the pasta in the simmering basket. Do not clean bowl.
  4. Cooking the pasta
  5. Put the water, cream and vegetable stock into the TM bowl. Insert the simmering basket containing the pasta and zuchinni.

Cook for 10 minutes Varoma speed 4, MC on.

Stir the pasta to ensure it is all evenly cooked.

Cook for further 5 minutes Varoma speed 4, MC on.

Again, stir the pasta to ensure it is all evenly cooked.

Cook for 5 more minutes Varoma speed 4, MC on.
  6. Once tha pasta is cooked, lift the simmering basket out of the TM bowl using your spatula and transfer the pasta and zucchini into a prewarmed thermoserver bowl and cover with the lid.
  7. Add the paprika, mustard, reserved cheese and milk to the remaining liquid in the TM bowl and cook for 3 minutes 100 degrees speed 4, MC on.

Pour the sauce over the pasta in the thermoserver, leave to rest for 5 minutes before serving. It will thicken up.

The total cooking time for the pasta is 20 minutes. It has been broken it down into steps to make it easy to remember to stir the pasta.

You cant omit the zucchini if you dont have it, and you can leave the skin on if you're not fussy!

This recipe is a varient of alfredo pasta, which is adapted from ThermOMG website to simplify it and work in the TM5.

I made this for my 16 year old son because I was so tired of buying boxed mac and cheese. He loved it although I did find it abit runny. I might reduce either the water or milk next time. I found that I had to add extra cornflour in step 6. It was very nice though.

I accidentally put the cheese and cornflour with the zucchini and pasta while it cooked instead of at the end 🙈 so I didn't add all of the liquid to the pasta, but it was still absolutely delicious and didn't seem to matter! I also didn't peel the zucchini. 😊
