Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Recipe's preparation

  1. 1. Place the Almonds in the bowl. Mill: 1min Speed 9

    3. Store in a jar in the fridge.

Tip

Almonds have a lower oil content than other nuts, hence the longer processing time that is needed to turn them into a smooth paste.

You may notice that the machine starts to measure an increasing temperature in the bowl. This is simply caused by the friction created as you process the nuts. This slight warming of the bowl will actually help you achieve a smooth paste.

I cant believe it took me this long to make. I only had 140g of almonds so made up the difference  with cashews. Perfect. How long does the mixture last for?

I soak the almonds first to activate them them dry them in the dehydrator, so the process takes a little longer. I also add a splash of coconut oil during the final blitz and voila - pure goodness in a jar!

    Great easy recipe - thanks.

    Submitted by Litker on 17. November 2015 - 23:41.

Great recipe, lovely final product, but sheesh, now I know why this stuff costs so much at the shops! I am used to making peanut butter, which is basically a 2:30 wham-bam-thank you-ma'am type job... This takes longer, with a lot more scraping down required. BUT worth it. Thanks for the recipe.

    Hi Little Miss Squeaker!

Do you know the reason I made it was because I needed it in a recipe. I was at the supermarket and was intending to buy. THEN I SAW THE PRICE. And I thought well I am SURE I can make it in my Thermomix and it will be a whole lot cheaper!! Bought a bag of nuts instead!! LOL

    Submitted by BozzyMum on 11. June 2015 - 15:52.

    Hi Jacinta76,

I don't think it would matter how much was in the bowl you would still need to scrape the sides as the sticky nature of the nut butter just makes it stick to the walls. I don't doubt the quantity could be doubled, the Thermomix would certainly be up for the job. But I suspect it would take longer!

    Submitted by jacinta76 on 21. January 2015 - 20:57.

Tried this today. Has anyone tried doubling the amount? I was wondering if this would make it easier to blend? There was a lot of scraping down the sides and repeat on 30 seconds.

Really happy with the result though!
