500 g

Vintage Cheddar & Caramelised Onion Dip

  • 300 grams onion, cut in half
  • 30 grams brown sugar
  • 20 grams balsamic vinegar
  • 30 grams unsalted butter
  • 80 grams Vintage Cheddar Cheese
  • 250 grams cream cheese
  • 80 grams sour cream

      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:

Recipe's preparation

  1. Place onions into mixing bowl Closed lid and chop 4 seconds, speed 5.
  2. Scrape down sides of bowl
  3. Add butter, brown sugar and vinegar to mixing bowl Closed lid
  4. Place simmering basket on top and cook 20 minutes, 120 degrees speed softGentle stir setting,
  5. Add cheddar cheese and cook 1 minute, 120 degrees, speed softGentle stir setting.
  6. Add cream cheese, sour cream and 1/4 tspn salt and mix 20 seconds, speed 4. Place into a bowl and refrigerate until ready to serve. Makes a large batch.
