Recipe's preparation

    Cake Batter
  1.

    1. Preheat oven to 180C. Grease and line 20cm springform cake tin.

    2.  Place orange and butter into mixing bowl and mix 7 sec/speed 8.

    3.  Add remaining ingredients and combine 20 sec/Counter-clockwise operation/speed 4.

    4.  Pour into 20cm round cake tin and bake for 50-60 minutes.

  2. Citrus Syrup
  3.

    5. Whilst the cake is in the oven, put water and sugar into the TM bowl. Cook 6 minutes/100C/speed 3.

    6. Put orange (or other citrus fruit) into TM bowl with sugar syrup.

    7. Combine on 30 sec/Speed 6.

  4. Serving
  5. 8. As soon as you remove the cake from the oven, prick small holes in the top of the cake with a fork. This will give the sugar syrup holes so it can soak into the cake. Pour half of the sugar syrup over the hot cake. Pour through a sieve if you do not want the citrus flesh on top of the cake.

    9. Serve with cream, double cream or icecream. Heat each piece in the microwave for 15 seconds if not fresh from the oven.

  • I entered this recipe minus

    Submitted by Cooky on 24. November 2014 - 12:18.

I entered this recipe minus the syrup I made orange icing instead into our local show on the weekend and I got a champion ribbon the CWA lady who judged it said its the best orange cake she has ever tried and she couldnt fault a thing wrong with it. I didn't add as much sugar and I cooked it at a lower temp. This cake also made the local prime news

    Thankyou

  • Lovely light cake. Love that

    Submitted by Nlay on 2. August 2014 - 16:53.

Lovely light cake. Love that there's no need to zest the orange or boil. I used 160 g of sugar in mixture and bit less in the syrup tooand still tastes great. perfect mixture of tang and sweetness. Thank you! tmrc_emoticons.D

  • We made this yesterday and it

    Submitted by HoppyPete on 13. May 2014 - 17:35.

We made this yesterday and it is absolutely delicious. So moist. The only change we made was to add 30gm of poppyseeds to the mix. Will certainly make this again.

  • Loved this cake! I used all

    Submitted by Babblingapril on 6. September 2013 - 18:43.

    Loved this cake!

I used all the syrup over the cake and while it tasted beautiful it was impossible to cut.

Will make it again with 1/4 the amount of water.

    Lovely!

  • I made this today, really

    Submitted by MB54 on 5. September 2013 - 16:49.

I made this today, really quick and easy, not having made it before where it said you could use 1/2 quantity of sugar, wasn't sure if that was in the cake or syrup. I did 1/2 quantity sugar in cake and full amount in syrup, but the syrup wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be. Anyway it all turned out really nice, but as with the others will only make 1/4 quantity of the syrup next time, otherwise cake would be far too soggy with full quantity, and I like the idea of the orange bits in the syrup, which sat nicely on top of the cake ( as it didn't say to strain the syrup)  Big Smile

  • Loved it, very quick and

    Submitted by baking70 on 26. August 2013 - 09:39.

Loved it, very quick and easy.  I used 3 mandarins for the cake and 150g sugar and a couple mandarins for the syrup.  Syrup great but would only make 1/4-1/3 of the quantity, way too much. Will be making again very soon.
