Devil's Food Cake

  • 114 gram Butter

      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. Recipe's preparation

    Preparation
  1. Prepare two 200mm round tins by greasing with butter and lining with grease proof paper. Pre-heat oven to 180degC (160DegC fan-forced)
  2. Add 114 grams Butter and 284 grams castor sugar at 20 sec/speed 4. Scrape down sides.
  3. Add 2 eggs . Blend for 5 sec/speed 4. Scrape down sides.
  4. Add 170 grams Plain Flour, 1 level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda, 1/4 teaspoon baking powder, 1 pinch salt, 57 grams cocoa, 230 grams cold water. Blend for 10 sec/speed 4
  5. Scrape downsides. Blend for 20 sec/speed 4
  6. Pour even amount into the two cake tins. Place into oven and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool on cake rack prior to filling and icing.
  8. MOCK CREAM:
    2 Tablespoons of butter 4 Tablespoons of sugar Approx 6 Tablespoons of milk Mix butter and sugar Add millk until sugar is dissolved
  9. ICING:
    1 cup icing sugar 1 heaped teaspoon of butter 1 dessert spoon of cocoa a little water. Mix until blended. Add water until desired consistency is reached.
