Perfect for whipping up fast for cricket morning tea. Whipped my cream first and used the MC to cut out the scone as suggested by others. Served with jam and the whipped cream - went like hotcakes!!

Still love this recipe but since last reviewing them, I have been known to sub sour cream and yoghurt when I've run out of cream. Recipe still works perfectly.

I only put in 200g of milk and the dough was a perfect consistency, not too sticky to work with and I cooked in oven of 180 degrees for 10 minutes and they were so light and fluffy and delicious!

    Submitted by Countrybumpkin on 10. November 2014 - 13:49.

these really are the BEST, EASIEST scones ever!I have always been notoriously bad at scones, untill these.  This is the only recipe I use now. So quick, easier and realitively hardy. My 2yo plays with & then rolls to make his own scone, and they still rise!

I only ever have plain flour so for this recipe, 510gms is very close to 3cups by my measure - so I use 6tspns of baking powder

  • My dough was quite sticky,

    Submitted by PinkSwan on 7. July 2014 - 00:36.

My dough was quite sticky, but I went slightly over with the milk by 10g and it was a cold day.

Given that, wrapped the dough in Glap Wrap and put it in the fridge for 30 min or so to settle.

Worked in a little extra flour when cutting with great results.  tmrc_emoticons.-)   tmrc_emoticons.-)   tmrc_emoticons.-)

    Submitted by kaspa90 on 30. March 2014 - 01:40.

Yum yum yum! Made these for the first time when I had guests. Huge success.  So easy. Can't wait to try again. I don't like sweet scones so only put in 1tbs sugar. Unsure if it changes the science to it, but they came out so light and tasty.

Wondering what alternatives can be made from this recipe.  Anyone added cheese or parsley?

Just made these using jooleewoolee's tips. However I only had mineral water and didn't have cream. So I used the mineral water and mixed some left over sour cream I had with milk to make it up. They actually worked! I usually suck at scones. Thanks tmrc_emoticons.)

    Submitted by jooleewoolee on 17. March 2011 - 11:42.

As a fairly experienced scone-maker, I was delighted fo find these scones both light & tasty and a breeze to whip up!  I did ammend your recipe tho ~ substituted half the milk for soda water, added around 130g chopped dates/whole raisins before kneading, and then only kneaded for around 10 secs to maintain the lightness of the dough. Sensational! Cooking 7
