Recipe is created for
TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation
Put Dates in TMX bowl, process until a smooth paste forms, sp. 8 for around 30 seconds. Repeat if necessary. Add coconut oil and vanilla essence to the bowl, and melt mixture, 1 minute, temp. 60, sp.2. Add puffed rice to a large bowl, pour warm mixture over puffed rice, using spatula to get out the thick date mixture. Use your hands to combine the mixture through the puffed rice until well combined and sticky. Transfer mixture to a slice tin that is covered with baking paper, press firmly into tin until evenly distributed and tightly packed. Put in the fridge for 2 hours, slice into bars and serve.

These were amazing and so easy thank you!! I heated mine for 6 mins like the OP said but otherwise the same. Just need to stop myself eating them!! I assume they need to be stored in the fridge?

Tasty alternative to the lcm bars from shops. I processed the date and coconut oil mix for about 5minutes on 60 degrees to make it smoother and easier to mix into rice puffs. I made them thinner and they have held the bar shape when cut straight from fridge

We loved this recipe. I used Tupperware silicon cupcake moulds to push them into and it worked brilliantly - popped out easily and i didn't have problems with crumbling to cut. Perfect size for little hands and lunchboxes.
HI, has anyone frozen these
HI, has anyone frozen these and then let them defrost in the lunchbox? Do you think it's possible to do so? I am planning to make these with puffed millet for my one year old baby.
thanks so much for sharing
thanks so much for sharing this healthy recepie. I usually do a LCM bar but with a nut butter, not so lunch box friendly unfortunatelly. So I was happy to find the date option. the only issue I had was that my date mixture and coconut once mixed and warmed seperated and the date mixture looked like a clump sitting in the oil. I still managed to get it all into the rice, but it wasn't easy and a lot of it crumbled once cut. I used fresh good quality dates and followed all the steps. Any thoughts and advise would be appreciated as they did taste amazing and the kids loved them!
Thank you
Delicious! I put the mixture
Delicious! I put the mixture into a silicone mini cupcake pan instead of worrying about slicing & it worked perfectly!

I made today, and my children
I made today, and my children loved them. I added some shredded coconut and desicated coconut to the mix too. Very quick and easy. I also added extra coconut oil so it wasn't as dry.
