I added an egg, and omitted the sugar, and it was still crumbly when cut. Possibly add more coconut oil to bind it together better? Otherwise great flavour, doesn't need the sugar, and seems like a lot of sesame seeds. I'll add other dried fruit or nuts next time, and try and perfect the texture/crumbling issues tmrc_emoticons.)

It seems the common problem with this Slice is that it is very crumbly. I had the same result today. Broke as soon as you try and cut I to slices. Will now be used as a topping on my cereal. Yet very tasty. Did adding the egg make any difference for those that tried this.

Thanks for sharing. I omitted the sugar - instead I used 140g golden syrup. I found they weren't too crumbly as others had mentioned. A bit too sweet for my liking, but nice all the less.

I didn't have enough coconut oil, so I added the rest of the weight in butter - still came out way too coconutty. I used honey instead of golden syrup and it was very sweet and way too crumbly. I think it needs more binding ingredients. I may try again with an egg and the syrup instead of honey, and more flour or weetbix. Perhaps I'll use ghee instead of coconut oil, nicer taste and less saturated fat.

Love this thank you - I also left out sugar and increased syrup and added an egg - makes it not vegan friendly but is an option 😊 think I’ll try the coconut you suggested next time

    Great recipe!
I diced 40g apricots and 60g of dates (in place of saltanas) first and set aside
I used 100g of golden syrup & no sugar. Tasted great and mixture was a perfect, not crumbly.

  • I added a squirt of maple

I added a squirt of maple syrup as I found it too crumbly the first time I made it and left out the sugar, it's pretty good.

  • Great slice, just my thought

Great slice, just my thought tho - it does not need sugar.  Have tried with and without and just as great without.  Is a very crumbly slice.  Wonder if more syrup or honey would hold it together better....

Sometimes I have to add more liquid. I don't know why but it's easy to rectify. Glad you enjoyed.
