Spiced custard

Ingredients

Spice Blend

  • 1 cardamom pod, small
  • 1.5 cinnamon quill
  • 8-10 cloves
  • 0.5 teaspoon powdered ginger
  • 1 teaspoon powdered nutmeg

Custard

  • 500 g Milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 85 g brown sugar
  • 30 g cornflour

Recipe's preparation

    Spice Blend
  1. 1 - Place all Spice Blend ingredients into your Thermomix. Dry roast your spices at 2 minutes/100 degrees/speed 1-2


    2 - Once dry roasting is completed, then mill down spices - 1 minute / speed 9


    * REMOVE FROM BOWL *


    The Spice Blend will make around 5-7 serves of spices for your spiced custard.
    If you wish to make a smaller blend, then use powdered spices and experiment with your preferred flavourings.

  3. Make custard as per normal method


    Add to your bowl -  milk, eggs, cornflour and brown sugar, then two teaspoons of your spice blend.


    Cook for 7 minutes/90 degrees/speed 4


    ENJOY!

Spice mix can be altered to meet your preferred tastes.

Easily made with dairy-free alternatives. Simply replace cows milk with your preferred substitute.

    My first ever recipe!!

     

    I have just come back to check for any errors in the recipe.

     

    Notes - the spice blend is quite thick, if you wanted to mill the spices down for longer for a smoother consistency then please do so.

    This would be perfect with some stewed apples tmrc_emoticons.)
