Tip

This recipe feeds our family of 6.

The porridge will thicken as it sits.

If you want a finer texture, blend for 20 - 30 sec/speed 5 once cooked.

You can subsitute some of the milk for water eg 700g milk 590g water or for a lactose / dairy free version, use water instead of milk.

To make a smaller quantity - use 15g coconut, 15g almonds, 45g dates, 160g rolled oats, 860g milk. Follow preparation steps above but reduce cooking time to 11mins

This recipe requires no other sweeteners, eg honey. Serve up as is with a splash of milk.

  • Yummo! Used coconut milk

Yummo! Used coconut milk instead, left out the almonds (only because of my fussy eaters...) & this was deliciously good!! Added a few blueberries at the end too. Yum yum, thanks for posting.

I liked this, made it this morning for breakfast. I've always liked porridge but this a a nice spin on a old tradtion. I only had 60g of oats so i only used 550g of milk but its still turned out great, thanks for the recipe.

  • My kids love porridge, and

My kids love porridge, and this is a family favourite around here now! My 6 year old girls will even take this to school for recess in winter in a thermos food jar. We were just making it with almonds and dates, and recently thought we'd change it up a bit and add coconut. This is now the favourite flavour combination! Definitely better than plain old porridge tmrc_emoticons.;) I don't usually weigh the coconut, dates or almonds in, I usually just add a handful of each. But the measurements are as close I could guess. You could adjust to your tastes tmrc_emoticons.)

Busy Mumma of 5 tackling it one day at a time Smile
