I'm cooking this today

Recipe's preparation

    No baking necessary.
  1. Place all ingredients except the splash of milk and desiccated coconut into the TM bowl.

Chop on Speed 9 / 30-60 seconds (check after 30 seconds and keep chopping if not desired consistency.  Can take up to 1 min if dates are hard for eg.)

Add approx 20-30ml of milk of your choice - I use Almond/Coconut milk, but dairy milk, rice milk etc work fine.

    Mix Speed 4 / 10 seconds.

Remove bowl from TM.  Dough should be not too crumbly, but not so wet that it squelches through your fingers.  With aid of spatula, scoop out batches of the dough.  Roll balls of dough between palm of hands.  I make 50 cent piece size balls, but you can do any size, depending on needs.

Put coconut into a separate bowl.  Roll each ball into coconut until fully coated, then place into airtight container.

Balls keep in the fridge in an airtight container for 7 days at least.

Tip

This batch makes over 16 balls about the size of a 50c coin.  A large batch to feed a family for midweek snacks.  Reduce all ingredients by half if you want a smaller batch or want to give the recipe a trial

    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

I like this recipe. It certainly makes a nice batch. Not too sweet (another reciipe added HEAPS more cacao powder - but this one just right). Only suggestion would be to blend the nuts and seeds separately first, before the dates, as I found the sunflower seeds otherwise took ages to reduce in size.
