Ingredients

12 piece(s)

Dough

  • 190 grams water
  • 1 sachet Yeast, Standard 7g Sachet
  • 450 grams bakers flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 90 grams Greek yoghurt, Natural
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, can use Sunflower Oil

To Top

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Recipe's preparation

    Dough Preparation
  1. 1.  Place water into TM bowl and heat for 1 min at 37 degrees on speed 1.

    2.  Add sachet of yeast and allow to sit for 10 mins

    3.  Add flour, salt, sugar, yoghurt and vegetable oil into the TM bowl and combine for 5 sec, speed 7

    4.  After all ingredients are well combined, set the dial to the closed lidClosed lid position and using interval setting Dough mode, knead dough for 3 minutes.

    5.  Turn out dough onto thermal mat and wrap.  Put dough aside for approx. 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.

  2. Prepare Oven
  3. 1.  Into a cold oven, place a pizza stone and preheat from cold to 220 degrees.

If you don't have a pizza stone, preheat oven to 220 degrees and use a baking tray lined with baking paper.

  4. Cooking Notes
  5. 1.  Once dough had doubled in size, punch down the dough and divide into equal portions (you should get about 12 portions)

    2.  Roll out each portion of dough on a lightly floured surface into a thin rough oval shape.

    3.  Brush each oval shaped dough piece with oil olive on both sides and bake on pizza stone (or oven tray) for 5 minutes or until puffed and light golden.  (Bubbles should appear on surface)

Tip

Depending on size of the pizza stone, cook in batches of 2 or 3.

Ensure that the air has been punched out of the dough before rolling out each portion (they will continue to rise and need to have the air removed)

Don't over cook!!!  They will end up like biscuits.  Keep an eye on them and remove from oven once just golden and they will stay softer.

    Submitted by bakercosy on 10. November 2016 - 09:27.

Made mulitiple times, freeze in 2's to pull out when we eat curry. (put in toaster for a bit straight from freezer too big so turn over to toast either end for a few seconds!) Will NEVER buy Naan from the shops again!

Made these last night, absolute success! Even the fiancé got excited and helped cook them - we fried them in a non-stick pan and waited for the bubbles like a pancake. Fluffy and very moreish. Will definitely make again!

I have made these many times now with great success. We roll out thinly, spread some garlic and butter, sprinkle with grated cheese and then fold over and re-roll. They are so amazing with any curry

  • Easy naan bread - Fantastic, light and fluffy naan...

    Submitted by Leaps on 30. September 2015 - 14:28.

Easy naan bread - Fantastic, light and fluffy naan bread! These didn't work well in the oven for me, but that could be because I didn't use a pizza stone. They did, however, work beautifully on the stove top. I brushed both sides of the first batch with olive oil, but only brushed one side of the second batch with olive oil, the second batch turned out better, but that may have been because I was a bit more practiced second time around. I will definitely be using this recipe again and again. Five stars! Thanks for sharing!

Olive oil may be a little heavy but I have used Sunflower oil before and they came out just as nice as veg oil.  You can always give it a go and let us know how it turns out.

  • Great easy recipe i found it

    Submitted by powicky on 21. October 2014 - 14:49.

Great easy recipe i found it better to roll out the dough like a pancake and cook it in the pan on a medium heat i cooked it the same way you cook pancakes when you see the the top side bubble up turn over. I brushed the top with olive oil and garlic mix begore turning. Taste awesome and i found they didnt try out as per cooked in the oven. I didnt have greek yogurt so i left it out still taste good.

Topping with garlic or brushing with garlic oil is definitely a winner! You can even add fennel seeds or cummin seeds into the mix for a bit of extra flavour.

  • Easy to make but found it

    Submitted by Sylvia A on 11. September 2014 - 21:24.

Easy to make but found it needed to be eaten straight from the oven otherwise it dries out when cooling down. I added chopped garlic on top with oil before baking but next time I would use melted butter with finely chopped garlic in it  before baking or perhaps brush on bread after cooking/before eating.
