This is delicious! I mixed some of the suggestions mentioned - adding 30g of dessicated coconut and 65g dark chocolate at step one and using whole 270g can of coconut cream, then topping up with dairy milk to 500mL. Loved it

OMG Ive made so many custards for my kids and this one is the hands down winner!!!! The perfect amount of chocolate & sugar!!
I did make a two small changes, I added 30g of decicated coconut in step 1, I also had a 270ml can of coconut cream and didnt want to waste/store the left over so I added the total liquid content up as 500ml, put that whole can in and topped up with milk to 500ml.
The finish was a true Bounty Custard which had the finest tiny coconut bits that added the nicest texture.

Disappointed that the coconut taste didnt come through, tasted more like a plain chocolate custard but will try adding coconut and altering the ratio of milk to coconut cream and see if that helps but otherwise a good recipe

I tried this for desert and I could not get it to thicken up. I used all full cream milk instead of the coconut cream and heated it for another 4mins without success. Next time I will check the cornflour ratio on the box to see if that needs adjusting. :O
