    Just made these. Fantastic.

Almond allergy in our house so I substituted a combination of (mostly) cashew nuts and (less) sunflower seeds.

I also swapped some of the coconut oil for raw honey, and used flax seeds instead of chia seeds.

    Worked really well, and delicious.

    I doubled the mixture.

For the comments about the desicated coconut - I put the listed amount in the mixture, then used extra for rolling onto the outside of the balls. It worked well.

    Thanks for the awesome recipe.

Is it possibley you used cOcOA powder instead of cAcAO powder? That would make them bitter

Can I please verify that the amount of coconut in the recipe goes in with all ingredients then extra used to roll? Or is this amount for the rolling?

I found these to be quite bitter - not sweet at all! So disappointed as the kids won't touch them now. I'm wondering if majool dates might be sweeter? Might try again and reduce the cacao and add some honey or something???

    Submitted by gemkat10 on 8. August 2016 - 20:47.

Just loved these, they were so yummy!  However, my husband and I became sick and after Googling have come to the conclusion that chia seeds were the cause,  It is a food that apparently needs soaking before being used, so if you have a reaction this is most likely the cause.

That no way takes away from the recipe, but just be aware some folks can have a reaction to these seeds.  I'll still keep making them but will replace them or leave them out.

Really easy, healthy snack for the kids. The kids call them chocolate balls and I just don't tell them that they're really good for them! I left out the chia seeds based on personal preference.

The first thing i have made in my Thermomix and they are sensational! I have made plenty of bliss balls in the past, but none have held there shape like these. I swapped out almonds for cashew nuts, and they tasted soo good. Literally gone within a day in our house.

    Submitted by Danmalouf on 10. February 2016 - 13:53.

These are really yummy! They are a bit creamier if you use cashews instead of almonds but you need to use less oil. Have made a nut free version for school by using sunflower and pumpkin seeds instead of almonds but they are a bit on the bitter side. Maybe substituting some coconut oil for tahini would help.
