Mum's simple bolognese sauce

  • 500 g Beef mince
  • 1 onion, cut into 4 wedges
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 40 g olive oil
  • 1/2 tablespoons dried italian herbs
  • to taste cayenne pepper, I add a good pinch
  • 1 tablespoons Vegetable stock paste, or 1 vegetable stock pod
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 grated carrots
  • 1 cans canned diced tomatoes
  • 1 cans tomato soup, I prefer Heinz Big Red tomato soup (400g)

      Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Recipe's preparation

  1. Add garlic to TM bowl and chop 3sec/speed 7.
    Scrape down sides with spatula.
    Add onion wedges and chop 3sec/speed 5.
    Scrape down sides with spatula.
    Add herbs, cayenne pepper and oil, saute for 2 minutes/100°C/speed 2.
    Add stock, can tomatoes and tomato paste to TM bowl.
    Insert basket into TM bowl and add mince to the basket. I like to break up the mince when adding it to the basket.
    Cook 10mins/varoma/speed 2

    Remove basket with mince, use spatula to break up mince and tip into TM bowl.
    Add tomato soup and grated carrots to TM bowl.
    Cook for 20mins/varoma/speed 2.

    Serve with cooked pasta of your choice.
