Non-Fried Fried Rice

Ingredients

Non-Fried Fried Rice

  • 2 carrots
  • 1 stick Celery
  • 6 button mushrooms
  • 100 g Frozen Corn Kernals
  • 200 g frozen peas
  • 20 g sesame oil
  • 1/2 an Onion, peeled
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 4-6 Rindless Bacon Rashers
  • 350 g basmati rice
  • 900 g water
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 tbsp kecap mqanis, or soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • --- choped BBQ chicken, optional, for a bigger meal

Recipe's preparation

  1. Put carrots & celery into TM bowl and chop for 4 seconds, speed 4-5. Add mushrooms to bowl and chop for 3 seconds, speed 3. Put into varoma bowl. Don't wash the bowl.Weigh peas & corn on top of the veg & mushrooms. Put the varoma bowl aside.Put onion & garlic into TM bowl and chop for 3 seconds, speed 6. Add bacon to bowl and chop for 2 seconds, speed 5. Scrape down bowl & repeat if necessary. Scrape down the bowl, add the oil and saute for 5 minutes, 100C, speed 1. Add to varoma bowl on top of other vegies. Don't wash the bowl.Put water into TM bowl, insert basket and weigh in rice (no need to wash). Put lid on and put varoma into place. Cook 15 minutes, Varoma, speed 2.Meanwhile wet & scrunch a piece of baking paper & lay on varoma tray. Pour eggs onto this. When time is up put cubed chicken in with vegies to warm up and put varoma tray into place and cook for 5 minutes, Varoma, speed 2.Cut egg up with spatula and add to a large bowl with thr rice and vegetables. Add the sauces, salt & pepper and combine all together.Enjoy!

    Terrible. Followed the recipe to a T. Didn't change the amount of rice that was said to use and used the times as listed exactly. The rice was not cooked. Even after an extra 5 minutes. The egg also didn't cook in the suggested time. The rice issue seems to be a repetitive comment here so perhaps the recipe should be looked at again. It's 6pm and it looks like my kids won't be having dinner any time soon, I may have to do a seperate batch of rice.

    Wow! A fantastic, versatile, cheap recipe that makes absolutely loads! This one will go on rotation for work lunches and a great dish to take to parties too. The rice needs a bit more time though.

    The rice did not cook through. So, I increased the cooking time.

    This is a tasty and filling meal enjoyed by the whole family.

    Schlutem: You'll still need to do the same amount of cooking time even if you halve the recipe. Rice still takes that long to cook regardless of amount you're cooking. tmrc_emoticons.)

    Great recipe Smile It tastes like any fried rice. I added ginger before the onions and garlic and chopped finely 3 secs / speed 9. I used Tamari instead of kecap manis and added about 1/4 cup and did not add oyster sauce.

    This was great. Finally something both my 5 year old and 3 year old liked. Very tasty. I doubled the sauce and added a little bit of Chinese Five Spice at the end and it made it even better.

    When i started making this the idea was just to get my fussy 2 year old to eat... My partner said "so basically your boiling rice and adding some veg"
    After he and my daughter ate all theirs (and my partner went back for seconds) he said it was better then the local chinese restaurant and asked if it was easy enough to make so i could make it more. I'd say that ment it was a big hit and my partners fav reciepe ive ever done in the thermo.

    Really good! Very easy and quick. I changed the celery for red capsicum though. Next time I'd dice the onion, bacon and capsicum with a knife because I like them chunkier. Also I think if I had the leftovers the next day though I'd fry it with a little bit of sesame oil rather than just reheating in a microwave, but that's just me!

    Enjoyed this one. So easy to make great tasting fried rice that I can customise with the veg I have in the fridge. I halved the recipe and had loads to go with some chicken. My bacon was slightly frozen still when I started but didn't matter.

    Loved this! Was so easy to make and tasted delicious! I doubled the sauce and used brown rice, so cooked for 10 mins longer and it was great. We also have egg allergies here, so instead of making the eggs on the top tray I steamed some chicken and added that in! Perfect! Thank you for sharing Lol
