Custard Cake

  • 450 g self-raising flour
  • 250 g Butter, cut into 3cm pieces, approx
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Bean Paste
  • 450 g caster sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 g custard powder
  • 250 g Milk
  • 2 tablespoons icing sugar, for decorating, optional

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. Pre-heat oven 160 degrees (fan forced) or 180 degrees no fan
  2. Place all ingredients into TM5 BowlClosed lid
  3. Mix for 30 seconds, speed 6Closed lid
  4. Scrape down sides of bowl. Ingredients should be all combined together. If they are not all mixed together mix for a further 5 seconds, speed 6Closed lid
  5. Once all ingredients are mixed together, pour into lined 23cm deep square tin. (I used a rectangular caserole baking dish)
  6. Bake in the oven for 1 hour.
  7. [color=#484848; font-family: Raleway, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px]Check cake with skewer. Sometimes it takes another 5-10 minutes to cook in the middle.[/color]
  8. Once cool, transfer to a wire rack
  9. Sprinkle with icing sugar to decorate - Optional
