      Recipe is created for
      TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    Before you begin
  1. This is an old converted recipe (hence the odd ingredient quantities) the tomato and onion needs to be strained Of as much liquid as possible. If you have the time, sprinkle strained tomato and onion with salt, leave covered 4-6 hours in strainer, to strain out excess liquid. Or if time poor, squeeze out in muslin cloth/fresh chux cloth. It reduces size a bit. It all fit quite safely and happily in thermie.
  2. 1st Step
  3. add strained tomato & onion to bowl, add 1 cup vinegar, and sugar. Combine Counter-clockwise operationspeed 3-5, 5-10 seconds.

    Boil 100 degrees 55mins, reverseCounter-clockwise operation speed 1.5.

put basket in place of mc, it will splutter.
  4. 2nd step
  5. while above is boiling, combine flour (or corn flour), curry, mustard and half cup (125ml) of vinegar in small bowl to make runny paste, if not runny enough, add a little of the boiling liquid.

this is then added at 55min mark, combine 10 seconds Counter-clockwise operation speed 3.

boil for further 10-12 mins Counter-clockwise operation 1.5

pour into prepared hot jars, seal.

I used to make my relish the old fashioned way but made this today with my homegrown tomatoes ,total success in way less time. Only thing different was I used cornflour instead of flour and apple cider vinegar instead of brown vinegar (only because I didnt have brown). Even the husband who is a Thermo skeptic was impressed Big Smile
