Falafels

  • 400 grams tinned chickpeas
  • 1 carrot large cut in quarters
  • 1/4 bunch fresh coriander leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground tumeric powder
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1-2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 100 grams sesame seeds

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    Falafels
  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees celcius or 180 degrees fan forced.

    Line a baking tray with baking paper.

    Drain and rinse chickpeas and add to Thermomix bowl along with carrot, coriander, spices and garlic. Chop 6 seconds, speed 6.

    Add oil and lemon juice, 10 seconds, speed 2 until a paste is formed.

    Roll tablespoons of mixture into balls and roll in the sesame seeds to coat.

    Place on a baking tray.

    Bake for 20-30 mins until lightly browned.

    Hi, I made these and they were delicious, but they were really crumbly, any suggestions why? The mixture didn’t seem too dry, but perhaps it was?
