Dough

  • 500 g water
  • 4 tsp Butter
  • 20 g dry yeast
  • 680 g flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • oil, For Deep Frying

Mince Curry

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 onion, Quartered
  • 50 g olive oil
  • 2 tomatoes, Quartered
  • 500 g Beef mince
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp Nutmeg
  • 40 g raisins
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable stock paste
  • 1 bay leaf

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    Dough
  1. 1) Weigh water into the bowl & add butter

    2) Warm the water 1 min/37oC/speed 1.

     

    3) Add yeast, flour and salt (ensure the yeast doesn't touch the salt). Blend 8sec/speed 7.

    4) Knead 3 min/Closed lid/Dough mode

    5) Remove and place in a lightly oiled dish or Thermomat to proof and double in size.

    6) Heat oil (Rice Bran Oil works best) in a pan on the stove or use a deep fryer.

    7) Roll into flat balls about as big as your palm/slightly smaller and fry until golden and puffed up on each side. Drain on absorbent paper.

  2. Mince Curry
  3. 1) Place the onion and garlic into the bowl and chop 3 sec/speed 5.

    2) Add oil and saute 3 min/Varoma/speed 1.

    3) Add tomatoes & chop 5 sec/speed 5.

    4) Addall ingredients EXCEPT the bay leaf and raisins. Blend 5 sec/speed 4.

    5) Add raisins & bay leaf. Cook 30 min/100oC/Counter-clockwise operation/Gentle stir setting

     

  4. Slice the cooked dough in half or make a pocket and fill with the mince curry. Enjoy!

    this was pretty good, i used half the amount of curry powder and found that to be good for us, halved the dough recipe and it made 8 buns
