For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. Insert Butterfly.

Add flour, water and salt. Beat for 1 min / speed 4.

Add yeast, sugar and baking powder. Beat for a futher 30 seconds / speed 4.

Remove butterfly. Put mixture somewhere warm for 20 minutes.

Using a fry pan on medium high heat and greased egg rings (alternatively you could use an opened pie maker) add mixture and cook for approximately 5 minutes. If the top is a little raw looking, just flip it and cook the top.

Either serve immediately, or pop in the toaster to serve.

    Makes about 6-8 crumpets.

I have tried many crumpet recipes and today I gave this one a go. This is by far my favourite recipe and it's the easiest recipe I have found. I did leave mine to rest in a warm spot for longer than 20 minutes, which I felt it needed... ended up being about an hour or so. I just came back to the mixture after I had walked my dog. It's fairly cold here today, so my ingredients were cold when I used them (eg I keep my flour in the freezer), so this may have been why it needed longer than 20 minutes resting time. Now I have tried it, I am going to double the recipe next time. I also cooked mine in the pie maker (4 pies total) and 50g of batter was the perfect amount per crumpet! Sorry no photo, we were hungry and forgot!

What a hit these were. Me and my 7 year old (stepdaughter) enjoyed cooking these up for our big family of 6. We used the pie maker, started off with 2 tablespoons into each spot, but then upped the mixture to 3/4 full for a thicker crumpet. 8 mins on one side, then 2 mins flipped to brown the top.

We doubled the ingredients, and got 20 in the pie maker, next time I will try them on the fry pan with egg rings. Would be great to get a bigger size so the 4 kids dont feel they need to have 5 each lol, well they are so yummy.

From the taste, I could see myself using the same recipe and making steamed buns, could fill them with pork, or chop suey.. endless options

Enjoy making these and eating them up!

As my very first try at making crumpets, I found these really easy to make and it was a reasonable quantity - it made 7. I cooked them all in a pancake maker, the first batch in oil, without rings, for my vegan adult child and the next lot with rings and butter. Super tasty
