If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 180 Degrees Celcius, line a large cake tin or baking dish (30x30cm approx) You can also bake this in 2x 9" round tins, for a layer cake.

Boil your kettle ready for the last step

Place sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, bi-carb soda and salt into the mixing bowl.
5secs/speed 10 (this will sift and combine the ingredients)

Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla
    Combine for 2mins/speed 4

Scrape down sides and bottom, add boiling water
    Combine 30secs/speed 2

Bake in 180deg C oven for 35-40 minutes (30-35 for 2 round tins)

Use any form of icing you like. This cake freezes really well, and when baked in round tins and layered up, makes a lovely birthday cake.
