Golden Syrup Cake

  • 150 grams unsalted butter cubed, Straight from the fridge will do
  • 200 grams Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 2 --- eggs
  • 225 grams Self Raising Flour

      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:

Recipe's preparation

    Golden Syrup Cake
  1. Grease and line the base of a 20cm cake tin.

    Turn oven onto 180C (160C for fan forced)

    Place all the ingredients in Closed lid and mix for 23-30 seconds on speed 5. Scrape down the sides of the TMX bowl and mix on speed 5 for another 20 seconds - or until the batter looks nice and smooth.

    Pour into prepared tin and bake for 50-60 miunutes

    Allow to cool in the tin for 10 minutes or so and then turn out onto a cake rack.

    Dust with icing sugar to serve.

Tip

This was the first recipe I created after I bought my first Thermomix way back when. It's still a firm favourite, as I'm rapt in "all-in" cake recipes.

It also makes a great pudding. Just serve warm slices with cream, custard or even a great butterscotch sauce
