Recipe's preparation

  1. 1. Melt butter, sugar, golden syrup and milk for 4minutes, 70 degrees, speed 1 until all butter is melted.

    2. Add the flour, cocoa, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda and combine on Speed 5 for 5 seconds. Scrape down edgea and repeat if necessary (I find it's not necessary)

    3. Pour into cake tin. Or as I did here make in to 12 cupcakes. Cooking time will depend on cake or cupcakes. My cupcakes took about 16 minutes at 160 degrees.

These are well worth making - melt in your mouth!

These cakes are amazingly moist & chocolately. So delicious & won't last very long at all. I doubled the recipe which worked really well. Just added a minute to the butter melting time. The double recipe made 20 muffin sized cupcakes which rose nicely & were easy to ice. Thank you for your recipe ❤️

Quick and easy. Was quite a rich flavour. My muffins stayed together well, however my young children did manage to make quite a mess with these, but I really didn't mind as they liked them. I also liked the soft, moist texture.

    These are TOO moist!

I've made them 3 times now and it's the same every time.

They end up tasting like batter on your palette and that's after they've crumbled and fallen apart everywhere whilst you're trying to eat them!

Messiest cupcakes my children have ever eaten for sure and the flavour and texture are certainly not worth the mess!

    Dry and crumbly, no egg??

The flavour was ok, used less sugar and organic cacao.  But dry texture and crumbly to eat.  I'm thinking the recipe needs an egg?  Sorry, not very impressed, kids will eat them though.

  • Just made this with the kids

    Submitted by Pioria on 9. June 2015 - 11:27.

Just made this with the kids for something to do on a cold winters day. What a treat!

Easy to make, not very sweet, super moist!

We baked ours at 160 deg celcius for 13 mins and they were just cooked through and super moist. Practically melted in my mouth!

Will try this next as a chocolate cake and see if it turns out the same.

We found them not very sweet though and the kids wanted to decorate so we added some chocolate icing which made them even more decadent!
