Recipe's preparation
1. Melt butter, sugar, golden syrup and milk for 4minutes, 70 degrees, speed 1 until all butter is melted.
2. Add the flour, cocoa, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda and combine on Speed 5 for 5 seconds. Scrape down edgea and repeat if necessary (I find it's not necessary)
3. Pour into cake tin. Or as I did here make in to 12 cupcakes. Cooking time will depend on cake or cupcakes. My cupcakes took about 16 minutes at 160 degrees.
These are well worth making - melt in your mouth!

Delicious! I made these this morning for my daughter's birthday, and they were super yummy. I forgot to put the sugar in with the butter and syrup so I added it with the other dry ingredients but that was the only (accidental) change to the recipe.
Will be making them again

Very tasty! This will be my go-to chocolate cake recipe.
Tried it last night for cupcakes - single batch made 15.
Added an egg, purely because others had. Then did a double batch. TM5 handled the double batch but would be the limit (altered times etc to cater for additional ingredients).
Used the "No Melt Buttercream icing for the Tropics", which was also a great recipe.
Super moist and light. Thank you.

The best chocolate cupcakes
These are my go to chocolate cupcakes, I make them at least once a week for the family. I do reduce the sugar and the cocoa, but that's just a personal thing. They're so good the kids eat them without icing.

I made three batches of these for my kids class parties tomorrow. I intended to add an egg as many others have suggested but I actually forgot in the first 2 batches and when I tasted them I decided not to bother in the last as they are absolutely perfect as is. Thanks for a great recipe.

Delicious. Turned out beautifully even though I only had 10gms cocoa and made up the rest with drinking chocolate! I made cupcakes at 165c for 15mins. I’ll make one whole cake next time as this is a good recipe.

Tried this recipe with gluten free flour today and they were moist and very yummy. Added an egg but still a little bit crumbly (gluten free flour does that) so would add 2 eggs if I made them again gluten free.
Love the dark chocolatey flavour, thanks for the recipe.

I'm giving this recipe a 5 star rating because i stuffed up every step and they turned out really nice!
I didn't have golden syrup so used honey - accidentally used way too much
I don't use sugar so replaced with xylitol so just guessed how much to put in.
I then realised at the end i didn't add the milk so added it last! (big mistake, was hard to combine haha)
Also added an egg because others did.
It came out not too sweet and lovely texture.
sorry i butchered your recipe!

A good light cupcake. Mine had a slight taste of soda. Needs the addition of the egg and still the children had cake crumbs all over the table. I think the addition of cream as a top up would be great. I got 12.

Great chocolate cupcakes- they came out light and fluffy, and taste amazing!! I decreased the sugar a little and I also added an egg like a few others have mentioned. Also added a
couple of mini choc chips. The mixture was quite runny so was a little unsure at first, but turned out great!! Cooked for 18 mins at 160 degrees. Will definitely make again, thanks!

These cakes are amazingly moist & chocolately. So delicious & won't last very long at all. I doubled the recipe which worked really well. Just added a minute to the butter melting time. The double recipe made 20 muffin sized cupcakes which rose nicely & were easy to ice. Thank you for your recipe ❤️
