Bread n Butter Pudding W/Jam

  • 10 slices white bread
  • Butter, to spread on your bread
  • Jam, of your choice
  • 300 gram thickened cream, (pouring)
  • 300 grams full cream milk
  • 30 gram caster sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Paste
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tbsp caster sugar, top
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg, top
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon sugar, top
  • cream icecream, to serve

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    Directions
  1. Pre heat oven to 160oC and lightly grease with butter a 2 litre oven proof dish, you will also need another dish for it to sit into with hot water just before putting it into the oven so its a good idea to have this ready now.
  2. Butter your bread slices and spread jam on one side and lay your slices slightly overlapping in your prepared tin.
  3. Combine cream, milk, caster sugar, vanilla bean or paste and eggs. 30 Seconds on Speed 5
  4. Pour cream mixture over the prepared bread tin and allow to soak for approx 15 minutes.
  5. Combine the extra caster sugar with the nutmeg and cinnamon and sprinkle over the top of the bread.
  6. Place your dish inside of the larger dish and pour enough hot water into the base it comes half way up the sides and put into your preheated oven. Bake for 40-45 mins or until the custard is set, remove from hot water bath immediatley to prevent over cooking
  7. Serve hot with a good dollop of vanilla icecream.

Tip

Custard is set when a point of a knife is inserted in the custard and it comes out clean.

You can replace the jam with sultanas
