Granny's Milktart

Ingredients

  • 1-2 packages Tennis Biscuits, from South African section in most supermarkets. malt o' milk can also be used
  • 1 cinnamon quill
  • 800 g Milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 40 g flour
  • 40 g cornflour
  • 200 g sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 30 g Butter
  • cinnamon, for dusting

Recipe's preparation

  1. Line a large square or rectangular dish with whole biscuits. I use a 25 x 25cm glass dish but use whatever you have.

  2. Heat 400g of the milk & the cinnamon quill 10min / 90degrees / Counter-clockwise operation / speed 1. Remove the cinnamon & allow the milk to cool for 10min.

  3. Add eggs, flour, cornflour & sugar. Blend 7seconds / speed 7.

  4. Add vanilla, butter, & remaining milk & cook 12-14min / 90degrees / speed 4, until thick & glossy.

  5. Carefully spoon mixture over biscuits so that they stay in place. smooth with a spoon or spatula & then sprinkle with ground cinnamon.

  6. Cool slightly then store in the fridge for at least 2 hours before serving.

Pour into individual mini tart cases for a fancier bitesize dessert. Beautiful for a sweet buffet or baby shower
