      Recipe is created for
      TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. Make sure chicken has been cleaned inside before starting.

Stuff the chicken with the Rosemary, garlic and lemon and set aside in the large Varoma tray.

Place all ingredients for the Chicken Rub into the bowl and chop for 3 seconds/Speed 7, scrape out and rub over chicken.

Fill jug (without washing) with 1800grams of water, place Simmering basket into place with roughly chopped Soup Mix ingredients, and put Varoma in place and cook for 60 mins/Varoma/ Speed 2.

Lay prepared vegetables for roasting around chicken and cook for further 15 mins/Varoma/Speed 2.

Add 100g of Alphabet noodles to bowl, replace simmering basket and Varoma back into place and cook for a further 10 mins/Varoma/Counter-clockwise operationSpeed 2.

Once cooked, dice up a little chicken and add to the soup before serving for the kids. You can add more water to the soup if the taste is a bit strong (I usually add about a cup to 2 cups of water)

Enjoy your roast chicken and veggies while the kids enjoy their Chicken Noodle soup.

Tip

Modified from Healthy Roast chicken recipe from "Devil of a Cookbook"

This is a great recipe to cater for parents and kids seperately, but still utilising the whole Layered Cooking option.

The chicken doesnt look pretty but tastes awesome. If you prefer a crispier skin, pop it in an oven tray in the oven 200 deg for 5-10 mins.

This has to be the best meal ever, because you cook 2 meals at once! I changed up the rub a bit, but divine!

  • This was lovely! Put chicken

    Submitted by Cherryn on 4. November 2016 - 15:58.

This was lovely! Put chicken breast down (note for myself). Chicken was perfectly cooked and moist. We just had it straight from the thermy so the skin wasn't great. Lovely with oven roasted veges. My husband wanted some gravy, but he was the only one! Makes a lovely stock in the bowl too. I didn't make the soup though as I was pushing it for time. I had a 16 kg chicken which perfectly fit. It was enough to feed our family with a bit leftover for sandwiches.

    This was delicious!

I made this tonight for dinner and it was fantastic. We put it in the oven for 15 minutes to make the skin crispy. We just had it with salad. I will definitely be cooking this again, it's a great family meal.

  • We all enjoyed the chicken

    Submitted by Natasha77 on 18. June 2016 - 19:50.

We all enjoyed the chicken noodle soup - the kids who usually refuse soup devoured two bowls!.

Unfortunately we weren't too fond of the 'roast' chicken. For us it was too lemony and the lemon flavour went all through the vegetables too. The chicken was very moist.

  • Nice recipe thankyou. I

    Submitted by TeamElliot on 28. May 2016 - 14:56.

    Nice recipe thankyou.

I needed a broth/soup for a sick toddler and also a meal for the not sick adults so this worked perfectly. Nice base that is easy to add adaptations or change flavours with. I do like to finish my chicken in the oven for a level of crispness, but it is also perfectly fine straight from the Varoma and the moisture that it retains cooking this way is great for making it flexible enough to roast finish.

    Submitted by musictherapy_au on 22. December 2015 - 23:18.

Love this recipe!!! Made it twice in one week. So easy to follow the recipe (for a newby like me).

Even reheating left over meat, the chicken remained moist and tender.

thank you for a great recipe.

very yummy, next time i think i'll have to put the chicken in earlier though had to put it in the oven to get it cooking quicker, must have been a larger chook. but otherwise its amazing and simple! i now have chicken noodle soup for lunch tomorrow and some to freeze when sick and i used up the whole chicken which never used to happen before ther thermomix! thanks for the recipe tmrc_emoticons.)

  • My whole family eats this! It

    Submitted by cheekycook on 22. July 2015 - 23:16.

My whole family eats this! It would have to be one of the only meals they do!  I make it once a fortnight, at least and we have the soup for lunch the next day.

My little changes are I add a little cayenne pepper to the rub. last night I added a little turmeric also and it was delicious! I never put it in the oven, every time I try it makes it too dry.  I add 1-2 tablespoons of vegetable stock to the bowl when the soup is cooking instead of salt. Is so much nicer.  Instead of abc noodles I add macaroni pasta and it is fantastic!

we love this so much.  I rave about it to all my friends. So economical, tasty, easy and a family favourite!

    thanks for sharing!

The whole family loved this! We roasted the veggies in the oven as there wasn't enough room in the varoma. Haven't tried the soup yet but looks good.
